Inspired Ministering

The assigned lesson topic for today was "Inspired Ministering" given during the Priesthood session by President Henry B. Eyring. Sister  Kristin Collins  (our mission president's wife) was so excited because she had prepared for today's discussion by listening to the talk every day this week as she exercised (Impressive! That was so motivational to me!) Our instructor, Sister Joanna Beck, then had to confess that she was not going to spend much time on the actual lesson! We all had to laugh but I'm sure Sister Collins was extra blessed this week from her persistent preparation. Sister Beck then started with the example from President Eyring's talk of a persistent home teacher who was not welcomed yet he continued to reach out to an inactive and disinterested sister who was here from another country. During a crisis moment, this sister asked this home teacher for help with her 12 year old son. The home teacher reached out to the bishop and relief society and...

Personal Revelation

Sister Collin's daughter-in-law, Kenzie, was able to visit with us today from Sandy, Utah. We were small in number today so visitors were a happy site! We also welcomed Kim Hoffman today who recently moved into my neighborhood! Kim comes to us from the same ward as the Easton's and the Flams. I feel bad for that poor ward but we are definitely being blessed! Kim and her husband Art have a blended family of six children.  "Does God really want to speak to you? Yes!" Today's lesson taught by  Rebecca Lund Olmedo  focused on the process of personal revelation. President Nelson's conference talk was the backdrop for our discussion. President Nelson explains why receiving personal revelation is so critical to us. "In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost." Several sisters; Sister Trina Murphy, Sister  Becky King , Sister  Vernita Granger  and Si...

Ministering Part II

Today for our Relief Society council we had a Ministering part 2 discussion! Joining us were new sisters to our ward; Kimberlee Easton and Jennifer Sears! They are both coming to us from nearby areas. They each have four children so keep your eyes open for new youth in our hallways! We also had visiting sisters; Janice Neerings, Kristi Deaver and Carlton Taylor's mom (I didn't catch her name). We love having new faces around our circle!  A couple of things to keep in mind: Next Sunday during the third hour ALL of the sisters (including the young women) will join together in the cultural hall for a Mother's Day brunch! Also, mark your calendar for our next Relief Society night on June 14!  If you would like more clarification and ideas for the new direction of ministering there are videos and information on  ministering.lds.org.  One of the invitations (by Elder Ballard?) we have received is to look at the scriptural references for "minister" or "one by o...
