The Heart of the Prophet

Happy Father's Day! What a privilege it was to hear from three departing missionaries today who gave such beautiful tributes to the father figures in their lives, the fathers in the scriptures and of course to our Heavenly Father. We were blessed to have our relief society numbers added to as a result of the farewells and the holiday.   Alicia Call Peterson 's sister, Linda Parrack (Sunrise Mountain ward) and two sisters-in-law;  Tanya Thomas Call  and Tina were able to join us along with Brother Ed Boye's daughter, Memory. Welcome sisters! Sister Joanna Beck used Gary E. Stevenson's talk "The Heart of a Prophet" as her main source today but supplemented with thoughts from "Revelation for the Church, Revelation for our Lives" by President Russell M. Nelson; "Live According to the Words of the Prophets" by Carol F. McConkie and "Prophets Speak by the Power of the Holy Spirit" by Ulisses Soares. Elder Stevenson shares his insider ...

"The Powers of the Priesthood"

We had several visiting sisters with us today in support of  Rebekah Andersen  and Bishop and  Valerie Barrett Eastman 's farewell talks. The keys of the priesthood are the powers to direct the exercise of priesthood authority.  President Oaks wanted us all to understand that "men who hold the priesthood are NOT "the priesthood". Therefore, we should not refer to "the priesthood and the women" but instead "the hold...

Becoming Our Best Selves

Before Sister  LeAnn Rosaaen Risenhoover  introduced the topic this morning, she asked each of us to go around and say our name and one thing about ourselves. I will do my best to remember them all so those not in Relief Society can learn about our sisters as well: LeAnn Rosaaen Risenhoover --hates to cook but her hubby is an excellent one Joanna Beck--loves chocolate (and makes incredible homemade ones) Becky King --is 5' Robyn Christensen Wilson --is known as the "crazy woman" at home Trina Murphy--went on trek Kim Easton--works out to Broadway music Leslie Winward Wright --this week with her girls had fun making "diamond" art (something like that--none of us had heard of it before) Donise Sarager Price --hates saying her name Ellie Pace --from Maine Jan Neering--has dined with the Queen's family Mary Call --is British but has not dined with the Queen's family Kathy Jones--knows how to milk cows Kim Hoffman--has two older children that l...
